Amid National Heart Health Month, Easy Spirit has announced its “Move for Heart” initiative, teaming up with the Mount Sinai Fuster Heart Hospital to raise awareness about the significance of women’s heart health.

The #MoveforHeart Limited Edition Romy Walking Shoe, a bright red sneaker available now for a price of $79, is at the center of the campaign, with a portion of the proceeds going toward the hospital. The shoe displays the name of the campaign embroidered on the side, including a heart symbol rather than the word. The sneaker also features a washable knit upper crafted with recycled components in addition to a shock absorbing footbed and a removable sock liner.

Easy Spirit is pledging $25,000 to aid cardiologist Dr. Anuradha Lala-Trindade (aka Anu Lala) and her trailblazing work at the Mount Sinai Fuster Heart Hospital. The “Move for Heart” campaign is a part of Easy Spirit’s ongoing “Mind Body Sole” campaign. With this latest initiative, the brand wants women to take control of their well-being and incorporate accessible movement activities into their daily lives, like a walk.

Dr. Lala led a meditation and offered information on heart health at an Easy Spirit event in New York City on Feb. 6, where the new Romy shoe was debuted and guests were led in an exercise by brand ambassador Denise Austin.

“Women’s heart health is a cause that deserves more attention and action,” said Shanya Perera, senior vice president of Marketing at Marc Fisher Footwear. “Through our support of Dr. Anu Lala and the Mount Sinai Fuster Heart Hospital, we hope to inspire women to incorporate movement into their daily lives and take proactive steps toward heart health.”

“Joining forces with Easy Spirit for the #MoveForHeart initiative allows us to raise vital awareness about women’s heart health. With heart disease as the leading cause of death for women, it’s essential that we encourage proactive care. Through Easy Spirit’s generous donation to the Mount Sinai Fuster Heart Hospital, we are not only educating women but also advancing critical work in heart disease prevention. This initiative will help drive meaningful conversation and inspire women to take charge of their heart health.”

Easy Spirit honored Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October 2024 with the “Move for Pink” Maxine Sneaker as part of a partnership with Shoes for a Cure. A portion of the proceeds from that $99 shoe went to breast surgeon and researcher Dr. Lisa Newman’s pioneering breast cancer research; parent company Marc Fisher Footwear donated $25,000 to her cause as well. Katie Couric and Katie Couric Media helped to spotlight the initiative.

Another brand showing support for women’s heart health this month is Chinese Laundry, which launched its “Wear Your Heart” campaign on Feb. 1 in partnership with the American Heart Association; as part of the initiative, 30% of proceeds from the limited-edition Heartful Heel Sandal will go toward the American Heart Association’s Life is Why campaign, with a minimum donation of $40,000 pledged to be donated.
