Cynthia Erivo is still “Defying Gravity” with her footwear, most recently showcasing a ballet-inspired Christian Louboutin pumps in a gorgeous shade of green at the 97th Academy Awards Nominees Dinner in Los Angeles on Feb. 25.
The multi-hyphenate artist has a single called “Replay” coming out on Feb. 28 but is simultaneously preparing for Hollywood’s biggest night, the Oscars, set to air on ABC on March 2. Nominated for Best Actress in a Leading Role for her turn as Elphaba in “Wicked,” Erivo attended the dinner on Tuesday wearing an archival Givenchy look with her head-turning green shoes.
Her vintage Givenchy outfit said that spring was in the air — the buttery yellow-green satin outer garment, with a floor-sweeping hemline, elegant V-neck and strong shoulders, featured intricate embroidery of flora and fauna. The jacket was fastened at the center and a simple skirt accompanied the garment. Her go-to ultra-long nails and septum piercing accented her look in addition to an array of earrings including chunky gold hoops.
Nicely complementing her vibrant ensemble, Erivo wore Christian Louboutin’s Cassia Lace Up Alta, a platform version of the trendy ballet slipper-inspired style made from crepe satin. She likely wore a customized green version of the shoe, showing off a sleek peridot hue that picked up the green in her outfit.
The Cassia Lace Up features a square toe box, like a pointe shoe, in addition to a dainty bow on the vamp and shiny ribbons wrapping around the ankle; a grosgain trim is included in the design as well. Additionally, a dramatic stiletto heel lifts the style to a new height. The Cassia Lace Up retails for $1,095 and the Cassia Lace Up Alta retails for $1,295.
This past year has been an opportunity for the world to get to know Erivo’s unique fashion sense a bit better. Before the Academy Awards Nominees Dinner, she attended the SAG Awards on Feb. 23 wearing a custom shiny silver version of Christian Louboutin’s Hot Chick style, pairing the shoes with a vintage silver Givenchy gown — a combination of designers Erivo can rely on for a show-stopping look. At a premiere for “Wicked” in London in November, Erivo donned a pair of custom Schiaparelli pumps, a sleek black platform pair with an ankle strap which went with an avant-garde Elphaba-inspired outfit.
