After showing their debut collaboration at Paris Fashion Week last fall, Danish designer Cecilie Bahnsen and The North Face are set to release their collision of the technical and feminine this week.
The Cecilie Bahnsen x The North Face Glenclyffe Boot combines the whimsey of flowers with the toughness of its all-black look and its functional materials. Traditionally a hiking boot with urban appeal, the silhouette takes on a full-coverage shroud with a cinched collar and 3D floral appliqués with scalloped edges. Even the lace toggle is shaped as a flower, and glossy black branding for Bahnsen’s namesake label beneath the mid-cut collar ensures the all-black look is uninterrupted.
Lest you think the floral theme makes the boot any less hardy, a Vibram outsole promises durability and grip. A ankle-cut inner bootie can also be removed to wear as a slipper, and a dustbag is included with another floral drawstring toggle.
The campaign for the collaboration stars The North Face climbers Solenne Piret, Brooke Raboutou and Molly Thompson-Smith at Fontainebleau. Bahnsen said in a press release: “This campaign is such a special moment for me—it captures the meeting of two worlds, where the feminine and the outdoors come together in perfect harmony. Seeing these strong, inspiring women embody both elegance and strength while climbing in the designs was incredibly moving and highlights the synergy between our brands.”
Performance fabrics adorned by the florals also form a small range of apparel accessories including long and short Mountain Jackets with taped seams, a Mountain Dress with bib-like adjustable suspenders, drawstring shorts, and baggage in duffle and clutch sizes.
The Cecilie Bansen x The North Face Glenclyffe Boot and the rest of the collection will release Thursday, May 13, through the websites of both parties and select The North Face stores. Pricing runs from $250 for the clutch up to $1,000 for the longer Mountain Jacket, with the boots coming in at $350.
