Bad Bunny and Adidas are adding a new sneaker model to their partnership, and by doing so they’re going even deeper into the trend of low-profile sneakers.

The Bad Bunny x Adidas Ballerina “Bold Gold” will mark the first release for the shoe that’s long been subject to teases and leaks. It’s based on the Taekwondo, a thin-soled shoe first introduced in 1988 and now enjoying modest success among the rise of flat sneakers, but with a significant amount of adjustments to make it Bad Bunny’s own.

Much like his Gazelle, Bad Bunny’s Ballerina features wavy suede overlays throughout the upper. The base of the shoe is rendered in canvas, and the stripes arrive in leather. Also carrying over from the Gazelle is the external size tag on the heel. Squiggly lines make another appearance on the tongue tag as well, and a speed lacing system offers easy adjustments.

The debut “Bold Gold” colorway, featuring yellow and black along with a translucent gum sole, will likely call to mind the famous Onitsuka Tiger Mexico 66 from “Kill Bill.” But even without the same color scheme, both sneakers have connections to martial arts. And along with Adidas’ Samba and, more recently, the Puma Mostro, the Mexico 66 has been one of the leading models in the flat sneaker trend.

The Bad Bunny x Adidas Ballerina “Bold Gold” will release exclusively through boutiques March 29, but Sneaker Politics is hosting an early raffle open now with winners to be announced March 1. Pricing is set at $120.
