Kerry Washington wore pink but incorporated a certain dark glamour for the Golden Globes red carpet on Sunday. While there, her husband Nnamdi Asomugha made a rare appearance. The actress chose a vibrant pink gown from Balenciaga. Made from wrinkled silk taffeta, the gown is from the brand’s spring 2025 collection and wraps around one shoulder before bunching around the body and ending in a long train. To give it a moodier vibe, she chose to go with heavy, dark eye shadow as well as latex opera gloves. She also wore dark stockings.
For shoes, Washington chose the Balenciaga knife heel. The heel is a sharpened version of the classic pump. It was worn by most of the celebrities who were dressed in Balenciaga on the carpet at the Golden Globes including Nicole Kidman, Michelle Yeoh and Lykke Li among others.
Washington’s in particular featured a stiletto heel of just over four inches. It is made of black patent calfskin leather. The Knife is categorized by it’s particularly sharp and pointed toe. Even the back of the shoe features more pronounced angles. Demna has been iterated on the Knife silhouette since arriving at Balenciaga in 2015, offering various versions each season. He’s also done a boot version of the knife series.
While Balenciaga does not currently sell the Knife pump in black patent leather, they do sell the Avenue in black patent leather. That is an even more extreme shoe with even sharper angles. That’s available for $1,190. The Knife pump is also available in a variety of other fabrications like spandex and velvet.
Washington was styled by Mariel Haenn and Rob Zangardi, who she has worked with since 2023. At the award show, she presented trophies for Best Actor and Actress in a comedy or musical film.
